REPORT OF KVS HYDERABAD REGION
A very rare and exuberant opportunity was given to the students of KVS to pay homage to the legendary, charismatic figure and noble laureate Sri Rabindranath Tagore.
The response was overwhelming and more than 65% of the Vidyalayas in Hyderabad Region participated in the competition under the aegis Sri S Selvaraj, Assistant Commissioner and Sri Sambanna, E.O, KVS. Hyderabad Region. The judicious judgment was done at KV Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam under the guidance of Regional co-ordinator ,Smt. Radha Mahalakshmi. Principal KV Steel Plant, Vishakapatnam. This project gave an opportunity not only to the students but also to the teachers to have an insight into the great patriot and celebrity, Sri Rabindranath Tagore who was the greatest ambassador of Indian Culture and Heritage of all times.
Smt Radhamahalakshmi, Regional Co-Ordinator, brought about awareness in the Principals of Hyderabad Region in the Principal’s Conference. Since then there was hectic preparation with in the region by all schools. All the schools of KVS Hyderabad Region took it up on war footing. Despite the busy schedules, the teachers and the students got involved in research and collection of data on Tagore with competitive spirit. Students started posting queries to all Regional Co-Coordinators of Group A, B and C as and when they got entangled in the uploading of information on Tagore. Besides being serious about the project, children thoroughly enjoyed getting an insight into Tagore. This in fact inculcated reading habit in many students who were stuck to television and computer games in these days.
The teachers also were exhilarated as this brought about a change in their mundane routine. This brought about relaxation from their regular/ routine life as the topic was so interesting on our gurudev. It dispelled the misconception that class room learning is only true learning and a child can never learn by any other means. This project proved that on line digital projects can make a difference and child can learn at ease, at his own pace, at leisure as per his interest.
Apart from the essays, book reviews, powerpoint presentations, KV,Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam had the privilege of preparing a skit on Cabuliwallah. The extraordinary talents of the students were brought to the fore depicting Tagore’s idea that “the most important lesson that man can learn from his life is not that there is pain in this world, but that it depends upon him to turn it into good account, that it is possible for him to transmute it into joy.”
The pencil sketches and paintings on Tagore added to the connoisseur’s eyes on think quest platform. Each student expressed their love towards GURUDEV in different ways.
While on the job as judge for group –A ,Smt. A Sujatha Devi, PGT(English), KV Steel Plant Visakhapatnam said that endeavor on the part of the students and teachers made it evident that techonology has seeped into the blood stream of every one and once people start using it, it becomes an addiction. She was very happy about this exercise that they had undergone as she got a rare opportunity to once again enjoy Tegore’s works.
Ms. Soujanya Singh, judge & PGT(Eng.), KV 2, Nausanabagh, Visakhapatnam spoke on this occasion. She was overjoyed at the response of the students and their involvement in such a challenging project.
Mr. Ravi Kumar, Regional co-ordinator Group-B & TGT(W.E), KV, ONGC, Rajmundry and Dr. Tyaga Raj, Regional co-ordinator Group-C KV 2, Sri Vijaya Nagar said that it gave them great satisfaction to act as Co-ordinators in guiding the teachers who strived hard to evaluate the entries.
This project enabled students to use technology and enrich their potential by expressing their creative talent .The work shop on THINKQUEST judgement enhanced the appreciation and love for Tagore which has become a household name now. Thanks to KVS and Think Quest. Indeed ‘Oracle’ through Think Quest opened the treasury of the ‘Pandora’s Box’-to give an insight into Rabindranath Tagore as the true ‘Renaissance Man’. Let us hope that many more such opportunities will be created for us to pay our respect to such great leaders.

Tagore Mahotsava at Jaipur Region
“Death is not extinguishing the light;
it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come...”
Thus begins the essay of our Regional Winner Sayani Majumder. Tagore Mahotsava Celebration was indeed lighting of a lamp in our academic calendar. The Mahotsava was launched on 15 December, which was also our KVS Foundation Day. Circulars were sent to all the 57 KVs about the Mahotsava. It was taken as a part of CCA. All the schools planned their strategies to celebrate the Mahotsava. Competitions were launched at four levels- Group A- Essay Writing (Classes IX to XII), Group B- Book Review (Classes VI to VIII), Group C- PowerPoint Presentation on Tagore’s Short Stories (Classes III to V) and Group D- Skit on Tagore’s play.
The regional co-coordinators were at help. For the Essay Competition, Ms. Ratna Pathak, TGT English, KV 1 AFS, Jodhpur, for the Book Review, Mr. Gulshan Hans, PGT CS, KV 3 Jaipur, for PowerPoint, Mr. R K Gupta, PGT Maths, KV 2 Kota, and the skit was taken up by the Regional Office itself. Seven schools were nominated to give their entries on skit.
There were hundreds of entries at the school level as the competition was taken as a part of the formative assessment. At the regional level 34 schools participated with a total of 57 entries- 32 in English and 25 in Hindi. There were 57 entries for the Book Review and 46 entries for the PowerPoint on Tagore’s Story. The winners at the Regional Level are yet to be awarded by the Regional office. They are eagerly waiting for their awards.
The KVS (RO), Jaipur, has played a pivotal role in such good participation by the Vidyalayas. There had been constant reminders and guidelines instructing the schools about the rules, deadlines, etc. Not only this, The RO was also keen on taking such projects as a part of regular academic calendar. Though there was not much pomp and show (as we believe in working silently- Tagore’s ideology), there was certainly a quality in our work.
The evaluation was done at the schools of the Regional Coordinators. The Essays were judged at KV 1 (AFS) Jodhpur, the Book Reviews at KV 3, Jaipur and the PowerPoints at KV 2, Kota. The guidance of Mr. H C Chawla, EO and Ms. Sandhya Rastogi, AC, had been the driving force throughout.

DIVYANSHI BODDU III C FIRST PRIZE AT REGIONAL LEVEL FOR HER PPT ON CABULLIWALLAH IN ENGLISH. |
These regional winners did a commendable job by painting the story and supporting with text .
While some expressed themselves through paintings ,some were overwhelmed by his thoughts .
While the screen shorts above are just a glimpse of the actvities undertaken at the regional level, it was the involvement of the students in large numbers and the various technology tools they learnt while developing creative insights into Gurudevs work which is truly rewarding and speaks volumes of the success of the project in achieving the 21st century skills .as one of the students wrote in his book review .
REVIEW:
Gitanjali could be described as the song offering to the divine. It resembles the poetry of
mysticism and Tagore’s reaction to his vision of reality. Gitanjali emphasis the divine
concept of Tagore. He believes God to be omnipotent and believes God to be present in
everyone. According to Tagore the divinity lies in nature.
His poems contain words of life which created a deep impact in my mind. Tagore’s
poem, “He is the innermost one, who awakens my being with… ” is one of those
poems which redefined my concept of God, in this poem Tagore has freed god from the
walls of temples. Tagore visualizes God to be his loving father and finds his symbol in
every corner of the nature ,”When I bring to you coloured toys my child, why there
is such a play of colours on clouds……….” is a poem that has made me to find life
in even dark grey clouds.
Tagore’s poem “The child who is decked with prince’s robes…… keep one shut off
from the heavenly dust of earth…” makes me sad about the chi ldren, the dear ones
of god who are separated from nature.
In poem, “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where
knowledge is free……. into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country
awake.” Tagore shows his sympathy towards poor who are kept away from the
attainment of knowledge and freedom, along with that he envisioned an India where
poor is empowered with light of knowledge. This is one of those poems which give birth
to a social worker in my mind.
Truly the beauty of “Gitanjali” fascinates me.
Our sincere Thanks to kendriya vidyalaya sangathan ,Assistant commissioner Mumbai region Sri PRL Gupta and Mrs Aruna Bhalla for their support and for this wonderful opportunity to learn and relearn .
